SL/R129: SL600 Transmission - Reverse issue

SL600 Transmission - Reverse issue - Thankful for your help
Hey guys. Just bought a '93 600SL. 110k When I bought it, it would take a few seconds before reverse would work. Now, as of last night...I have to rev it to 2000-3000 RPM's for the reverse to catch. It seems I can hear the car go into gear, but it just acts like its in neutral unless I rev it high. Disconnected the battery, now the ASD light is on..although I think that'll go away when I drive it. All forward gears work great. Ideas?

Seems fairly typical. My 320 takes a couple of seconds to engage the reverse gear too. Being like that for ever. My old 300CE was the same way too.

Agree its internal, common problem in 722.3 transmissions; I am sure you know the transmission in your car is not electronic.
