Dashboard Electronics - Gauges on the fritz
Hello, I checked out a nice R129 2002 today and it's among my top selections because it's really clean. However, while running the engine, I noticed electrical issues in the gauge box; namely, the tach would step itself up with each rev, until it was totally maxed out, and only came down when i keyed off the car. Likewise, the oil pressure gauge wasn't doing its ordinary "pegged" action, but was dead instead.
Is this a common problem among 02/01 cars? In any event, what does something like that cost to diagnose/repair, assuming (a) it's a loose wiring harness, or (b) the years of Scottsdale AZ heat have mandated replacing some wiring in the dash, or (c) whatever it takes to fix if it's a common problem.
