Arrow 2001 SL500 Battery Change

Recently acquired a 2001 SL500. Would like to change the battery...the vehicle is on it's second battery since new. Now has an Interstate. Autocraft makes a 49H8 titanium battery which looks like an OEM MB battery.

The battery tray has some corrosion, in an otherwise exceptionally clean car.

Is this battery supposed to vent to the outside? Should I use a cigarette lighter code keeper during the change? Baking soda clean up or new battery tray? Any ECU reset issues? Or is all of this best left to a dealer? Thanks in advance....

The first step would be to replace the battery tray, or at the very least line it to prevent further damage. I am assuming the corrosion resulted from leaked battery acid?

Roadside assistance can come and replace your battery for you at a cost of roughly $100. The replacement will be a standard issue OEM MB battery. If you are a DIY type, then look into an Optima battery instead. Lighter, more durable, and longer lasting than the conventional battery.
