SL/R129: Soft Top malfunction

Soft Top malfunction
I have a 98 SL500. I recently removed the hardtop and attempted to raise the softtop. I have partly succeeded in re-syncing the mechanism. Now the top gets about halfway up an will not go farther; I also cannot gett it to go down from there. If I shut off the engine, the top will go back down and I can relock.
