Headlight meltdown

Thought I would be smart and install a set of aftermarket halogen bulbs in my '97 SL500. Bought a pair of 5900K high powered cool blue halogen off the internet. They really are blue and I was not too sure how I would like them as they throw the light a long distance but leave you relatively blind up close. They lasted about a month and a half before one blew. When I went to change out the defective bulb I discovered that they had run so hot that both bulbs were fused to the headlight housing and had significantly melted the rear of each of the housings. Long story short - still have not gotten the bulbs out of the housings even after completly disassembling the headlights completly out of the car. So it is off to the dealer tomorrow to see about 2 replacements housings. Hopefully they come as seperate parts and I don't have to buy the whole headlight assembly.

Ouch...I've heard some horror stories about internet lighting buys, but that is pretty scary...good luck!

Update: New headlights are installed and functional to the tune of $1020.
