2003 SL500

Rear fog lights 1999 SL500, center armrest color issue

When I turn on the rear fog lights, only the driver's side comes on and gets brighter. Its not the bulb. Is this the way it should work. Also, when I slide the center armrest forward a tan panel is exposed and the color of my car interior is Ash. Is that standard?

Yes. this is proper. Otherwise, it would look like your brake lights were on.

As to the armrest, that isn't supposed to be that way...

A lot of times that panel pops off and gets lost, so yours may have been replaced with a used one that wasn't an exact color match.

Your car looks a lot like mine. A 1999 in brilliant silver with ash interior. What color is the panel in yours?

Yes, the rear fog light is only on the left (driver's) side for countries which drive on the right side of the road. As mentioned elsewhere, this distinguishes the light from a brake light.
