Small black button on rt side of steering wheel stalk.

Does anyone know what the small black tube with a cap at the right side of the base of the steering wheel stalk is for? Is it for testing something??

Picture? If you have NAV there is a push to talk stalk button. You push the button then speak a command to the NAV system. However not seeing what you're talking about I'm not sure. What year model?

Bottom right? I see nothing.
Bottom left? The small switch? It adjusts the steering wheel.
Top right? Something to do with the integrated phone, if the car came equipped with one.

Basically, all I see around the base are:
Cruise control stalk
Signal/High beam stalk
Phone stalk
Steering wheel adjustment switch

As mentioned, a picture would be very helpful in determine what you are talking about.

It's for voice command.

Pull the stalk and hold it for about 2 seconds and then say "Radio Station 104.5" or "Call 904-123-4567" and this woman's voice will come on and say "Ok, dialing the phone" or "radio station has been changed to 104.5". Well, assuming you have done the upgrades and still have a phone or bluetooth.

It does a bunch of other stuff as well, I think you may be able to adjust the air conditioning with it. Look, you should have a 300 page manual for this thing floating around along with the rest of the books for the car. Just read it, it will answer your questions.

That is interesting. I never knew that. I just went by the image on the stalk itself. However, after reading your post, I decided to skim through the manual myself. Unfortunately, the information on its usage is non existent in the 300 page manual (again, I was just skimming). There is a "quick reference" booklet, but the information on the voice stalk is very sparse, mentioning to reference another manual that I do not have.

I have been searching on how to use it and I believe I read some of your contributions on another forum but I have a question I do not think was addressed in the forum I was reading...

Is a phone required to use the voice activation? My car does not have a phone installed (push the phone button on the radio => "NO PHONE" message). I have tried using the stalk and even holding the phone button for a couple seconds but either attempt results in nothing. Thanks.

I guess after a couple days of testing without positive result means my stalk might be broken (I still get the tone that the system is active when I start the car). All I wanted to do was test out the feature. I don't use the radio much and could care less about the phone function. Thanks for the help though.
