My 2003 SL 500 has the speed sensitive volume control but I am puzzled by the way it acts. Sometimes it seems to be spot on raising and lowering the volume, other times I have to do it manually.

Is there a volume setting that prevents the SSVC from working at all? I guess I'm trying to decide if I am messing it up by changing the volume myself.

I see nothing in the manual(s) about this feature, unlike the majority here I don't mind it but am not sure how to set it so it's loud when I drive and lower when I'm stopped.

Is it supposed to work on AM too or just FM?

JT, My 2000 R129 SL speed sensitive volume control usually kicks in at about 40-45 MPH then 65-70 MPH.

BTW, I'm sure you realize that you are in the R129 form and that your car is an R230.
