1991 300 SL sputters and quits after 15min.
1991 300 SL re-starting problems....
My 300sl will fire up instantly with NO problems.....run smoothly for about 15 minutes sometimes longer, then when leaving a stoplight sputter and stop,I can get it to idle but as soon as you give it some gas it stumbles, stops and not re-start unless it sits for about 30 to 40 minutes, if you try to instantly re-crank it it sounds as if the timing has jumped or as if its not getting any fuel and bucks and spits and absolutely will not crank. but after that 30-40 min period it fires right back up as if nothing ever happened.PLEASE advise me as to where to start.
I purchased it this week from a LIAR that didn't disclose any problems to me at all, so now I'm left to figure this out, hopefully with your help.

The next time it quits, check for spark, if you have spark, I would look at a Fuel pump?

I pulled the dist. cap and cleaned the contacts and it started right up,so I ordered both.Will update.

Had the same problem on my 89 300SE.
Changed the cap & rotor, no problem since.

Get the original Bosch/MB parts, many bad copies around.
