SL/R129: sport package ID

sport package ID
just bought an '01 sl500. no sport badge on either fender.
researched options and my car seems to be a sport model, including body parts,18in staggared wheels,zenon lites,cd changer in trunk,heated seats.
can anyone explain why the sport badges are missing? thanks in advance, michael
P.S. never mind. just found out on another forum that my car came standard with the sport package hence no badges. i guess the sl2 option package was purchased when new, as an option.
