SL/R129: Hood going up but not down!

'92 500 SL
Hood going up but not down!
Hi, I've recently bought a '92 500 SL in sunny california; After disconnecting the battery recently the hood seems to be confused - it will raise but not lower!
The hardtop mechanism works fine, the rollbar fine, the windows also close fine with the hood switch. It seems when the button is pressed to lower the hood, the motors make the same action as if when closing.. the windows do not lower either. The hood lowers manually fine, there are no obstructions. All fuses are OK, not sure if hydraulic fluid is OK though, where do I find the reservoir?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's not the hood, but the hardtop, or ragtop.
You probably need to reset the syncronization of the control module. Go to the Sticky's in benzworld.org/forums
On your car that is done with the red convertible top switch on your console.
Look for the directions. You will need to jump connections in the diagnostic plug, which is located near firewall on passenger side. As I said before, go to the other web site.

Hmm my car just kind of makes a wierd mechanical noise when i try to raise the soft top but nothing happens. Any ideas? On the driver's side the panel that lifts up to reveal the soft top moves up about a quarter of an inch but no more....
