Where to start? The Italians or the Germans?
Question R129 Sl500 exhaust upgrade?

Hi all!

I finally registered my '99 Sl500. I was wondering if any of you had any advice on exhaust upgrades. I am not looking for it too be too loud (like 103db race exhaust). I just want to let the Mercedes v-8 engine sing a bit more. As for the cost? Anything under $2500 is reasonable. I am not necessarily looking to upgrade cats or headers. Although if any of you know of either of those that would get me some more HP that would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

P.S. I'll fill out my personal info just as soon as I get a spare second.

Very nice choice of sound levels, and tip design.

Hope This helps

Hey thanks a lot, I had no idea Eisenmann made MB exhausts even though I had looked at 'em for my 325i racecar. They sound great by the way. It has a modern sound, with the solid v-8 rumble which is distinct at low rpms and at full throttle from a stop. youtube "Eisenmann sl" there's a black sl with a good sounding Eisenmann race exhaust.

Thanks again,
Ricki

How loud is it? That would be another option as long as it's not going to get me into trouble with local authorities. As long as it is reasonable I should be able to get away with it. (there are way to many hicks in pickup trucks around for the police to worry about me if I'm not speeding)

I'll definitly give it a shot. I'm going to check youtube later for sound r129s w/o exhaust to give me a slight feel for what it might sound like. Do you get in trouble in Socal for noise?? 'Cuz if you can get away with it there I can definitly get away with it here in Fort Collins

Hahaha my soft top is kaput as well. I think the motor is broke. Or there is something binding. Although I can manually lower/raise it. lol.
