I need the 3rd brake light assembly that sits in the trunk deck. Anybody know where I might find one ?

Not having much luck on ebay.

I also need some odds and ends for the interior (cruise control stock cap, lost buy @#$@ing dealer .. and ac/vent handle-thing)

The 3rd brake light can be purchased at the dealer from the parts department.

As for everything else, I don't have much advice other than to broaden your search to include other cars in that era (w126, w140...). Some parts are similar/same across the range. I don't think cruise control stalks are different between the SL and S/SEL class.

I replaced mine with the LED version. The dealer said it could not be done, but I was able to make it work. I only had to modify the connection. I bought the LED version from the dealer. The lens and the light assy cost less than $75, if I remember correctly. It fits perfectly.
