SL/R129: ASR - Throttle Module
I have a 1995 SL500, built in late 1994. ASR light came on and went into limp mode. Codes showed the electronic throttle actuator to be the problem. I had it replaced. It is now two weeks later and the ASR light came on again and put the car in limp mode. I stopped the car, turned it off, started it again and it ran normally (just like with the ETA). Took it back to my indy and he is telling me the problem is now the "throttle control module" at a cost of $1,532.00 plus labor. I am unclear as to what the "throttle control module" is and where it is located.
Over the last couple of years my indy replaced the engine wiring harness, MAF and now the throttle actuator. I have replaced the plugs, wires, caps, rotors, (in the last few weeks), among many, many other things.
What is the throttle control module? Where is it located in the engine compartment? And, where can I purchase one? I have looked at parts.com and autohausaz.com and have not had any luck finding the part to which the indy is referring.
Thanks again.
Mike
Not many options other that getting it repaired or replace it. being an unusual control unit it's unlikely to find anything non genuine, by a non MB supplier can probably get you a OEM one.
Diagnostic Module - Code 17 - CAN communication faulty in between control units;
Electronic Accelerator - Code 2 - EA/CC/ISC control module or many other things;
Electronic Accelerator - Code 3 - Right EA/CC/ISC actuator;
ABS w/ASR - Code 30 - CAN data line to electronic accelerator/cruise control/idle speed control module.
E-Gas Module bad? Thoughts?
