SL/R129: SL Identity Problem

SL Identity Problem
i recently acquired a sl500, amg or so it seems
it has the larger brakes
silver amg gauges
amg body kit (sport package bumpers, side skirts, etc
amg wheels
amg exhaust
amg taillights
amg headlights (hid projectors)
amg suspension
emg engine covers
amg special edition badges, interior and exterior
except...
the dealer has no listing as it being an amg. the brakes i bought are too small, all the way around. it has the larger amg package, but not big enough to be sl600's.
can anyone advise?

If memory serves me right, and ive been R129ing for a while, unless you are in the UK or not America, there was NO AMG 129 FROM THE FACTROY in the SL500 form (SL60 and SL73 were the only 129 amg's) i.e when AMG plays with a car, they usually remove the last Zero or change the displacement
you might have a mut amg, see if it has Silver Arrow brakes on it, i know thats a common brake upgrade on 129s'

I thought that the R129 was sold with an AMG appearance package in 2001. Not real AMG but made to look so. It may apply to other years as well possibly. What year is yours?

According to the "OPTIONS & PRICE BROCURE" There was no AMG option package for the SL500 & SL600 in 2000.

Sounds like the AMG Appearance Package
If it helps at all, i have a 2001 SL500 and what is listed below is straight from Mercedes Benz based on my VIN #.

My car also has the StarTac phone, AMG Rims, 18" performance tires, CD changer, foglamps. etc. It appears that the only difference in our cars, other than the year, is you have the carbon fiber interior whereas I have the wood trim. Adding the SL2 package, I believe, is what is also commonly referred to as the "AMG Appearance Package". It's not true AMG but just made to look a little bit like it. Hope that helps. Good luck!

There were a few SL55s, SL60s & SL73s from AMG but the numbers are so incredibly small that the odds of you having one are almost nill. If I'm not mistaken only 5 SL73s exist today and benz probably only did it b/c it was basically a test bench for the Pagani Zonda (basically same exact spec motor).
