95 500SL
Newbie with 1995 500SL
Hello,
I just purchased a 95 500SL. The car is just about to turn 100,000 miles. I know it was a two owner car, traded to a Lambo dealer and then wholesaled off to the carlot type place I got it. It runs well, all electric gizmos appear to be working with the exception of the radio.
Anyways, I have a lot to learn, I was a Mustang / Corvette guy and a pretty good wrench on American Iron, which is to say I am a fish out of water but hopefully being fairly mechanically inclined not for long.
Where do I begin, what should I check? I know the radio is first, the redlight at the volume knob is on, but I cannot get into code mode, power antenna is broke, trying to go up but mast is bent or broke and won't, I am hoping to figure it out related to that (that was the dealer guys theory and I got him to come down $400 more due to it).
Anyways, I will have lots of questions and hopefully can get help others soon enough.....So 1st step: radio and also how long should SRS light stay on at startup, this one seems about 30 sec to 1 minute before it goes off.

2000 MR-S daily driver, 1997 SL600 weekend fun, 1999 ML430 tow vehicle
check fuses, they seem to like to go quite a lot and thats the peril of a lot of electronics in these, otherwise a new deck may be in your future, power masts are only about $50 online these days.
