'97 SL600 possible power steering fluid leak ?

I believe the slow leak I see dripping on the floor of my garage is from the power steering...however...no apparent/obvious means to check fluid level. Can someone please advise...or is it a closed system...or is the hydraulic fluid one in the same...I know it isn't oil.
Thanks for any feedback

I would wager that it is actually coming from one of you ADS hydropneumatic bladders actually.

'97 SL600 possible power steering fluid leak ?

Hi SL-ML-C,

Thank you very much for the response. Sounds probable...troubleshooting has comenced...I'll update...I found a couple of very loose high pressure hose clamps that had to be tightened appropriately. I hope that was it. Now it's time to troubleshoot from the bottom.

OT: Would the fluid, having saturated the belt, likely cause the belt to be at risk of breaking or weakening? Is there a safe method of cleaning without ruining the integrity of the rubber? If you have no answer that is ok...thank you for your initital response.

Hydraulic Fluid Leak - ADS

The fluid leak is hydraulic...the odds move into your favor, regarding your previous wager. I've narrowed the source to rear of the Power steering pump assy. Next step is thorough cleaning for obvious reasons
.

MB dealer parts man indicated the power steering pump has dual function...kind of like business up front and party in the back. Brakes in front/ADS in back...I guess I'll buy it until I conclude otherwise.
