Ignition coils are different?
Hey guys, I've been calling around looking for prices for ignition coils and everywhere I've called have told me that there are two different part numbers, and that one (the one I need) is twice the price of the other one.
This is for a 500SL, can this be right? Why would they use different coils for the same purpose?

The answer to your 'why' question probably has more to do with MB and others setting up primary and alternate sources for parts. Or, if the part in question is easily replicatable and profitable, a competitor my see a market opportunity.
Check out www.autohausaz.com , they usually list which of their parts are OE, making your choice perhaps easier.

btw the website you listed only has one coil, so I tihnk it may be ok.
