SL/R129: How can it tell if my fuel pump is going?

Unhappy How can it tell if my fuel pump is going?
I need help!
recent problems - randomly my 1999 sl will not start - acts like out of gas - let it sit and it starts. then when driving - car again acted like out of gas - let it sit and it started and ran - is this an indicaton that my fuel pump is going??

1992 SL500 AMG
on my 92 there is two pumps with a connection hose connecting the two, if that hose is faulty you wont get enough pressure. before you jack up the car check your pressure at your fuel distributor

rpm to high
start car and its fine.as soon as it warms the engine revs to about 1300. how do i set idle?
