cleanning back window
What is the best way to clean the back window on a 500sl It is yellow is there any way io clean to clean this. Also does anyone know where to buy the hood insulation for this car. Thanks Again Jimbo

two excellent questions. While some heat blankets have clips, most use a high heat spray glue. the dealer or parts dealer can sell. I used partsbin for the foam pad. For the convertible top plastic back window I tried cleaner and vinegar-water but really got a clear window with the convertible top window replacement. Also had the head liner replaced too

Plastic window cleaner....Meguiar's PlastX cleaner conditioner. Keep in mind that if your windows are too far gone, i.e. yellow turning to brown on the edges, plan on replacing the plastic as nothing can completely reverse extreme sun damage.

Keep in mind that most times you can't simply just replace the plastic window but rather you will need to replace that entire section of the convertible top. I have an '01 SL500 and the top is actually two pieces so if your top is not that old, you can probably just replace the back portion but if its old, you'll need to replace both as the front portion will likley get ruined when they try and take off the back section. I just replaced my entire top this past year and was able to get it done for $1,600. Good luck.
