SL/R129: hard top lock down?

hard top lock down?
I own a 1990 500sl. I removed the hard top and operated the soft top up and down to be sure it still worked after 5 years of non use. Hurricane Katrina! Worked fined
. Then noticed hydraulic fluid in front of rear wheels
. Figure the seals on cylinders leaked. My question is how can I put the hard top back on and lock it down. I thought about replenishing the fluid and giving it a go.

Replenishing the hydraulic fluid in the pump reservoir in the trunk is certainly one way to go, but also because of the leak, is flushing expensive fluid down the drain. You can also go to this site, download a copy of the owners manual for your model year, and follow the instructions to lock the top down manually. You'll need the top-tool that should be in the toolkit; if missing, you can pick one up at the dealer for around $14US. Almost the same cost as the fluid. Your choice... http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129...ml#post2391320

The MB DVD's come onto ebay every so often. Only get the one with '07' in the product number; the '04's' are junk
You can also look for sellers on e-baythat have copied the MB-WIS (workshop info system) and offer a 2 or 3 disk set for $10-20. Make sure you check the sellers feedback for similar items.
Last, you can get an www.alldatadiy.com subscription for your specific car for under $25/year.
