Engine & Transmission mounts?
Hey guys, I want to replace my engine and transmission mounts. I find the mounts on www.buyeuroparts.com for a great price. The engine mount made by FIRST EQUIPMENT for $43 and the transmission mount made by CORTECO for $36. Has anybody used these mounts or can suggest them? I know that OEM mounts cost around $100 each. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

For some reason AUTOHAUSAZ does not have the OEM transmission mount for a 91 SL500.
I have another question, I was thinking of changing the transmission fluid. What do you recommend for the fluid? Do you I just need the fluid, is there a filter? Thanks for your help.

Try RM European for the oem mount or call autohaus w/800#; they're quite knowledgeable.

you may end up at the Dealer for this one. As far as the fluid, the info is in your owners manual. If you decide to change it, get the filter and pan gasket, and pick up a pan magnet at NAPA et.al. and install it when you change the fluid. Remember to drain the torque convertor and trans cooler and lines to get it all out before refilling. IMO, this is a job for a transmission tech experienced with this car.

Hmm, interesting I was hoping this would be a simple drain and fill job. Well the reason I am thinking of changing all the mounts and doing the transmission fluid change because on certain shifts and when putting the car into park, you get jerk or like push feeling.

The jerk or push could be any number of things, can you be more specific? As far as the trans service being more complicated than you might have expected, I'm a bit of a fanatic about maintenance on one of the most expensive components on the car. With yours being 20 years old, if you've never changed the fluid and/or have the records for when any previous owner may have, I'd be at a reputable trans service shop tomorrow. The whole procedure can be completed under an hour. Cheap insurance IMO.
