7.3 Engines...

7.3 liters is the way to go folks. Cubic inches on demand. No supercharging or turbos. Just 525 real horses (horsepower) from AMG! To convert a 600 (1992-2002) to a 7.3 engine, it'll cost about 55,000 Euros. The reason I know is because inquired. However I think the current bi-turbo 6.5 liter AMG V-12 engine will out perform this 7.3 because of more hp (603 hp).

To Pogotango

It would be nice if you could buy a 7.3 for your SL500, but the price I stated (55,000 Euros) applies only to converting a 600 V-12 engine to be a 7.3 V-12 engine! The best you could do for your SL500 is to modify the engine to be the old 5.5 liter AMG V-8, with approximately around 350 horse power between the price of 30,000-40,000 Euros excluding the price of shipping to AMG in Germany. -(My estimate or approximation based on the quote of modifying a 6.0 liter to be a 7.3 liter engine.)

(Remember though that I do not refer to the current supercharged V-8 offered on AMG models with 500 horse power).
