SL/R129: 3rd starter in 6 months HELP!!!

3rd starter in 6 months HELP!!!
i have replaced 3 starters in the passed 6 months. it is a 1996 sl320. same thing with every starter. the push out bearing doesn't pop out, just spins. i inspected the flywheel, its straight and no teeth are missing. last 2 times a strange burned rubber smell came from under the hood and the starter was really hot. what can it be?

The nature of the starters are this..."BULLETPROOF"....THINGS TO CHECK=
1)the battery...must be mercedes....not older than three years(ish)
2)be sure the cables are tight at the starter and the battery
now it's not easy
3)the ignition key in the dash(column) might have electrical short
thats the known history of problems that i have helped with, if it's just the starter for whatever reason, 85.00 shipped to you , 3 year warranty....i have 19 in stock.

my experience with these cars are this.....whenever you get the chance, replace the battery with an oem Mercedes battery. i do not work for or with dealerships but do understand how important it is to use their batteries. prolly won't solve your starter problem but i promise at some point in time it will vex your car in some way(electricaly speaking) some day.
