I've searched far and wide and can't seem to find any pictures or mention of the ballast location for the HID headlights on the 97 SL320. I bought two new headlight assemblies from http://clearcorners.com, but they had no info on where the OEM ballasts were mounted. The passenger side ballast cable is about 3-4 feet long compared to the drivers side of about a foot to a foot and a half long. I'm hoping that someone that has factory installed HID's can look for me and maybe take a picture or two of their location. Appreciate any help on this.

the balast is inside the headlight assembly.

Hmmm I thought the metal box, which as I found out, is bolted to the frame. The left one on the frame rail underneath the wheel well and the right one on the frame rail behind another piece of equipment. So I thought the metal external box with a thick cable that runs into the back of the headlight assembly is the ballast. The inside of the back of the headlight assembly is a circuit board that I thought was the starter circuit. Does someone have a definitive answer to this??
