Air-con problem 1995 SL500
Hi all, I just got myself a 1995 SL500 and the air con has just packed up.
When I press either Automatic or any of the fans 1 to 4 buttons, no air blows out from any of the vents but I could hear noises inside the dashboard.
Also, I found one of the tubes in the engine completely iced up when the car is fired up with the air con switch on (but no air blowing).
I checked the fuses and they were okay.
Can I get some advise on the probable issues?
Thanks!

Sounds like your evaporator fan has bitten the dust or the bracket that holds the motor has failed and allowed the squirrel cage to hit something and bind up.

Lee could be absolutely right in his comments about the evaporator. My personal preference is to run the on-board diagnostics built into the Climate Control unit... See https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ble-shoot.html
Your symptoms could be an evaporator temp sensor or any number of other components...the diagnostics will set you in the right direction. Good Hunting-

Ok got it. The mechanic said the blower motor needed replacement plus a new resistor.
Will be getting the car back later today. Will update
