SL/R129: sl600
sl600
I think that the sl600 is the greatest car ever made. I now own a black 99 and had a black 93. I love the v12 but am about to jump ship in favor of the sl55. Anyone else in love with the 600?
Love the R129 SL-Class in general and the SL600 specifically. What a great idea--take a beautiful, well-proportioned convertible with almost every imaginable amenity and add a large V12. Must be great to drive (I've heard that V12's are smooth like nothing else--never driven one of course). I envy people like you who can use on a daily basis cars I can only dream of owning. Enjoy!!

You don't want to get involved with an SL600 once its out of warranty. They are extremely expensive to fix, and because the engine is so tightly compacted, even a minor problem could potentially require an expensive partial disassembly of the engine. A much better choice is the SL500.

I was wondering if you had the B&O Stereo System - I'm new to this site and have a 2013 SL550 coming in next month with the B&O and I have been hearing some very bad reviews - I just can't imagine this based on what my salesman told me - he is very honest and has sold me 4 Benz and he says this is a FANTASTIC system - thanks

Late to post, but I love my SL600. Truth be told, picked mine up about 9 years ago and it was a piece of meat. Got it cheap but sunk serious bucks to get it back into shape. Runs great, looks great! The V12 is a different animal, and people either love the engine or hate it. To me, there's a mystique about the power plant that you just can't get from a V8.

I looked at a new SL63 the other day at the dealer - while I was there an SL65 came in for service - this was the coolest and most classic car I have ever seen - yours most be fantastic ! - I can only imagine the thrill of driving and experiencing the 12 cylinder - what a rush

I've found that most of the time my SL600 is pretty bullet proof. Main problem tends to be when the battery goes flat and the roof and stuff stops functioning. Only trouble I've had is the rear suspension spheres needed replacing and one of the crankcase sensors went kapput (That was expensive! and why they didn't replace both of them at the same time made me mad) anyway love it to bits.

Sometimes it is not logic. Not an issue of better or not, simply magnificent feel and ride.

I enjoy the 94 and like Dude I too have rendered a fortune to the V12 god! but my stories about a Nash Rambler aren't nearly as entertaining!
I don't drive any car every day but the 600 starts and rolls real nice anytime I ask.
As I have lamented often on the forum a battery tender ( C tek ) provides the hold for the battery. The MAS ( even with a needless replacement) has been the one code that keeps the CEL.
The vehicle has been in my inventory since 1999.
