Wiring Harness---plural???
I have a very low mileage 600. I am about to replace the upper engine harness. Should other wiring harnesses also be replaced??/

Maybe, Is your SL600 93-95? The harnesses in the engine compartment are the most often replaced. Time and heat are important elements. Like rust, the insulation never stops breaking down. The test for the microleakage from the harness is visual. My car harness was cracking with green Cu oxidation along a cable. Dashboard symptoms included warning lights, "limp" home engine performance and irregular readings when checking engine codes. Welcome to the club!

Wallet willing...it would be good to replace the ignition,A/t, alternator, starter and knock sensor harness. Remember, these are all in the same engine compartment, where your upper engine harness is located 
You will have one or both MAF's to rewire and both Throttle bodies.. I still have to do the lower harness.... but my body is just not into it right now LOL
