Buying a 92 sl500. seller claims a 4 seater???
the car is a 91 not a 92.
After a while of searching, I think I've found a car. But after doing some research, I think this one may be alittle bit of an odd duck, it's a 4 seater!! there is no info on line about any sl500 being a 4 seater. the seller claims that it was a factory option, but if that was the case, there would be info on them no? would this just be a custom job? I haven't seen the car in person yet. (it's 3 hours away, but heading there tomorrow) but based on the pictures, it looks like a good job, if it was aftermarket. any and all info is welcome, as i wan't to go into this knowing everything I can.

Though I believe the back seat was available aftermarket for the 129, I can't imagine anyone able to sit back there. Also, it could be deadly if the roll bar activated while someone was sitting there.

Its not aftermarket, its possible, I have a 1990 with back seats, I bought the car as that from the factory brand new in 1990. However only kids below 5-7 of age can sit there. You can flop down the back of the seat so you can store goods there without damaging the seats

You can see then handles in the back of the seat for flopping them down, and the two plastic things behind the front armrest is to secure the seats down. Funny thing is - I have never seen a SL without these seats. I do however think there are more than easy to remove if wanted. I remeber some red buttons under the seats - Guess they are for taking them out, dont see the point thou.

Mercedes had the option of ordering back seats but in return you would lose the bose subwoofer and 2 rear speakers, i have the rear seats and installed the 2 bose rear speakers from a wrecked R129
