Anyone have a stock bumper cover....
for sale? It's a 98 SL US model, without sport package. I'm trying to find one for my friend who made a mess of his....color unimportant, we're going to refinish it anyway. Didn't find one on ebay, though I usually can. Thanks if you cn help, I'll put in the classifieds....

One just showed up on eBay at Nautictrade in Stuart,FL. $750 buy it now. As soon as I get my seat covers paid for, I am going for one made by DuraFlex. They appear to be much sturdier than the plastic ones.

I have a whole set (front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts - non sport) and can let go all at once for $800 local pickup only. These came off a black 1999 SL500 back in 2004 (upgraded the car to sport). These should fit 1996-2000 R129s
BTW, wherever you buy, do not get the duraflex. They are a waste of money!

Mine is a '99 Sport. What do you know about the DuraFlex. I was basing my thoughts more on advertising than on anyone with experience? Any advice will be appreciated.

Duraflex are hard to fit, have uneven surface and bubles over the years. It's never smooth. You might get better result if you spend 100 hours sand/grind them.
Why do you think body kits from Brabus, RENNtech, etc. cost thousands of dollars and these are so cheap? Have you ever seen a body kit from, say, a soupped-up Honda Civic? (no punch intended)

SLCL- Thanks for the reply. I just Googled "DuraFlex quality" and did not find one favorable comment. Sounds like you spend three times as much for body shop as part costs and results still may not be good. I guess the hunt is on for a good used one.
