CLS55 AMG wheels fitment

Has anyone had these wheels on an R129? I've searched through and through on this site and have found no one with these wheels on their R129. MB also used this wheel on R230 SL55s.....

My Dad just acquired a 95 SL500 and is looking at these wheels, would they even fit? I'm no means an offset expert (open to being educated ), but would like to know if they would fit without spacers or would rub if lowered. He does not want the wheels to look sinked in, but at the same time is not looking for a "stanced" look lol

The specs of the wheels:
8.5JX19, offset 28 Front
9.5JX19, offset 25 Rear

These will most likely fit fine, but there is a strong possibility that like true SL55 wheels, they are machined to take 14m lug bolts with an R14 ball seat.

You need to check that out carefully to make sure you get the correct lug bolts.

It can be done, I have SL55 turbine wheels on my 99 SL500. The hubs must take a 12m thread on 129's, you can't change that, and normal wheels for 129 fitment also have R12 ballseats, so you can't use the stock lug bolts. The bolt holes in the wheels your asking about are probably drilled for 14M and the ball seat is R14, so you need a hybrid lug that has a 12M thread for the hub and a R14 ballseat for the wheels, (they make them).

Check out this link for RADUSADIRECT, high quality lugbolts in all sizes

http://www.radusadirect.com/product/...at-Hex-17.html

The bolts shown are the ones used to mount R230 wheels on a R129, most likely what you need. But call them and explain what wheels you want to use, they will know which bolts you need.

CAUTION - VERY IMPORTANT - Do not try to fit those wheels on the car using your current lug bolts. They will most likely be TOO LONG and do damage to brakes. The proper length bolts for these type wheels is most likely around 26mm, and I bet your stock bolts are longer than that.

I beleive there is a couple of older threads that put R230 Launch Wheels on R129's. This is exactly the same problem that others solved when the R230's first came out in 2003. There is also similar threads for CL's using CLS wheels, needing the strange lug bolts. Do a search on SL55 wheels, and your bound to find something, thats what I did, it's all been done before...

good luck
