Newbie
Hello everyone I am new here. My name is Oscar I am 16 and have recently got a 1992 300SL as a gift from my old man. My dad is a mechanic and he teaches me a lot about cars. This is my first car it was previously owned by one of my dad's friends. I luckily have all the service and maintenance records from him, but the car is in need of some work. The good is that the transmission and motor were rebuilt. I have already flushed out motor oil and coolant and refilled them ( I still have to flush out old ATF Fluid and refill that). The bad is that the seats are torn, the control for moving the seats work off and on unreliably, the AC doesn't seem to be working, and sadly its automatic, I have read that manual transmissions are rare on the R129. This forum seems to have a wealth of information and great people from what I've been reading. I am looking forward to learning many things here and meeting new people.

very nice. few dents here and there but i'm sure you can get those out yourself or with your father. i would suggest doing them yourself. someone had a dented rear quarter panel and it was a 5,000 dollar repair bill from mercedes.

Yea, hey how much do you think my car is worth cash? If I were to repair outside. It has almost 300k on odometer, but it has rebuilt engine and transmission done by Mercedes by previous owner.

hmm that is hard to estimate. even though the transmission is rebuilt and so is the engine many of the other parts still have 300k on them. as a rough estimate i would have to say around 4-5k in current condition. because it does need to be fixed up. on kelly blue book they say it would be around 3k. though these cars tend to be worth more then what KBB says.

yeah that'd be no replacement of anything. like with bumper the way it is. but that's just a rough estimate. you can look an kelly blue book or look around ebay, craigslist for similar cars and see what they are selling for.

no problem. best way to analyze the market is to look around and see what mint condition and average condition sell for and then base what yours is worth off that. good luck with everything!
