Long time lurker here. Trying to help my dad place a value on his Panoramic Roof from his 98 SL500. The top is Black on black and is in excellent shape as it has been stored indoors for years. I've seen prices between $2800-$3500 on ebay, but I wonder what folks are actually paying for them.
I dont even want to imagine the nightmare of shipping this thing!

I think the price range you have is about right $3k is the going rate. Advertise it pick up only, the buyer can come in soft top mode and just lift it on and drive off. For what it's worth there is a lot of hype about them not fitting the earlier models that they need new seals etc. I have just bought one off a 1999 and fitted it straight onto my 1992, no modifying whatsoever.

Poundy,
welcome to MBWorld! You have been a great help on BenzWorld - hope you can enlighten MBWorld members on your favorite subjects, as well...
As far as the current price for pano tops goes, I would say that you are right on. Shipping them is possible, but it's a lot of work.
I have two pano tops available from crashed cars, both in gold or champagne with interior color code 275. One is in Phoenix, AZ, and one is in Florence, OR. I already have most of the shipping crate ready for the one in Oregon, so that one can be shipped - even internationally.

Thanks guys...
I think shipping one of the Hardtops would make for a great episode of Shipping Wars.
