In my old R129 I might have a "lock compartment" I can't open because the vac lock system is broken, or still Locked.
The solution for the last example requires the key placed in the key slot near the airbag and being rotated. If the vac system is operational the door map compartments, center console and back compartment areas will all "click" unlocked!
