SL/R129: Single DIN GPS/NAV
My other toy has a Becker TrafficPro GPS/Nav installed and I love the simplicity of the look; however, the 10+ year old navigation leaves a lot to be desired.
What has anyone done for NAV on their R129? I don't want a laser light show for a radio (a-la 80s radios); this car is incredibly original and my intent is to keep it close to that...swapping a radio is easily fixable should I decide to sell it some day.
Let me know; and thanks in advance!
While I wired all the connection systems, I use Sirius, FM radio, and Iphone (often direct cord ) but the bluetooth can bring all the music I really want, so may let the wiring out of the mix.
The nav is good with all the feature, but the low viewing angle is the problem for all the controls, DVD and Nav. I wanted a pop up screen to come from the eye glass/telephone nook.
Have you updated the 911 radio?
Good luck with your AV trek.
I know the TrafficPro II is easier to use; perhaps that is the avenue I'll go down.
Thanks!

Again the low position of the slot for the radio has been my issue and has limited my viewing while driving. Luigi in another "world" forum has crafted a double DIN center console panel, that looks like the right answer. The area in my benz has little extra room for wiring, and short connectors, so his design isn't for me.
As a collector, I keep all the OEM parts so if the next owner is a restorer, then the original parts are with the sale.
The important thing is, that all the Becker parts like iPod interface or s.th. like this don't fit at Mercedes-Benz headunits!
I changed to the latest Mercedes navigation system which is very similar to the Becker Traffic Pro. I don't know if it's available in the US?

But I won't take this! Only an OEM radio or an "real" Becker. But not a headunit with Porsche signs in a Mercedes
