SL/R129: failure: Soft top lowering question
any insight?
welcome to the forum. Needless to say, you need to locate and fix the hydraulic leaks. There is an incorrect/alarming signal from one of the micro switches if your red soft top button is blinking. Not knowing the (obviously rough) history of your car, it would be best to familiarize yourself with code reading, erase all soft top codes (through the connector in the engine compartment, not OBDII), and report which codes are left.

my white r129 has a leak too however the tops (both) still work fine. only one cylinder is leaking although i know your supposed to redo all at once. what does that run? there are 12 right?
ill be taking it to the dealer for the black one and they can handle it then. i plan to buy a hard top and stick it on so it wont matter so much if it doesnt work. i just wanted to get it to lower.
thanks for your help
Indeed, your '92 has twelve hydraulic cylinders for top actuation and latching. See the diagram below. We currently charge $550 per set of twelve, if you send them in first.
Can't you unlock the rear with the soft top tool, so that you can lower the top manually?

on the white one i keep the hard top on 24/7 only have had it off a few times i like the hard top... the soft top is nearly flawless on it...
a coupe isnt bad...
i cant find the locks anywhere else though. i tried to get help from john aka lowesguy a friend of mine but was unsuccessful in finding them. are there any pictures instead of diamgrams like of the actual car. the diagrams dont work for me in translating it to the car.
