Plastic radiator

I was asking Craig at Red Ink Racing what "old age" factors I should be looking for. [ He has replaced hoses and belts on all the vehicles he services in my collection on about a decade basis. I hate fan belt breaks in BrokenOvershoe Kansas where no mechanic even wants to touch the vehicle let alone replace the complex belt ( there is no John Deere conversion! )]

He said he worries about the radiator with its plastic water galley. In the past older Benz I thought the entire system was metal.!!!

Has anyone had issues with the junction of plastic and metal?
Thanks in advance of your comments.

over time like anything they need to be replaced... ideally an all aluminum is better. i have a behr all aluminum one. its a worthwhile upgrade.
