Build update
Here are some pictures of my 1992 500SL I haven't weighed it recently but my goal is 2000-2500lbs full frame before safety mods. As for engine I'm building a v12 m120 to make 2500hp and hope to do a 6 second quarter mile.
Last time I weighed and raced it about a year ago it was at 3660lbs and did a 14.0 second pass with a stock m119.960 paper filters and a 3" dual exhaust mandrel bends x pipe and 40 series flow masters stock exhaust manifold with a 2.5" down pipe. Also in a 1/2 mile race I did 148.8 with no front bumper (which resulted in an estimated 10mph slower speed because of aerodynamics)

I estimate without the hardtop in current state the car to weigh 3000-3300lbs I plan to develop a carbon fiber roof trunk hood gas flap a pills Mirrors and doors (I already made rear bumper and side skirts which need to fabricate mounts to install) also to install a sparco steering wheel in carbon fiber and install carbon fiber seats which should bring me close to my goal
When I weigh it I'll post numbers

I certainly applaud your efforts. i wouldn't personally strip out that much but I thinks its awesome that your going on this featherweight weight reduction. I do have three questions though...
-Do you know how much the stock seats weigh? (Want to put racing seats in a sl600)
-What adapter are you going to use for the steering wheel?
Keep up the awesome work!

From reading I've heard 100lbs but with updated seats I think they might have had airbags? And had heaters in them and other stuff... Which add weight I was looking at recaro carbon fiber seats that weigh 9.9 lbs but my sponsor and business partner in Thailand said he can make me some carbon fiber seats same weight modeled after a sparco seat for a lot less money.
As far as adapters for the steering wheel I'm not sure haven't gotten to it yet but when I do I can post info. The sparco steering wheel is about 1050$ and a few hundred grams weight wise...
