I Drive whichever has gas
SL320 Poor Poor Poor gas pedal response
I know this has been visited and revisited, but every time I search, it seems there is a different consensus, no consensus, or just a shrug of the shoulders.
I have a 95 R129 SL320 with <40k on the clock. When you stand on it, it wakes up, but otherwise it's a pig.
I was told the 95s can't be sprintboosted, remapping could potentially add some horsepower, but doesn't say anything about the gas pedal response time.
I had a 90(?) 129 (300 SL); beside the 2nd gear starts, it was quicker on the throttle...
Is there a fix for this, or do I need to develop a lead foot to get this car to act like it should?
Thanks,
Jeffrey2

throttle response issue
I have a 92 300sl, it also has the same thing. Additionally, the transmission doesn't seem to downshift very fast when I floor it. I floor it, count 5-6 seconds, then it downshifts and takes off! I am on my second bottle of Lucas fuel injector cleaners. I ordered a fuel filter to put in but am thinking there is a different issue. (129kmiles on it!) Runs smoothly though once it gets going.
