SL/R129: Rain Sensing Windshield question

Rain Sensing Windshield question
Hello,
I am looking to replace my windshield and have the choice between rain sensing and non rain sensing. My 1999 SL500 is equipped with rain sensing, but to be honest I would just soon control things manually. What I don't want is to create a larger problem, like a warning light or the wipers not working. Anyone have experice with a non rain sensing windshield being installed in a rain sensing equipped car? Thank you very much for any input you may have.

My 99 came with a replaced windshield where the rain sensor wasn't installed properly and didn't work. I disconnected the rain sensor, and now wiper position 1 is an intermittent / delayed wipe. Works just fine for me.

The difference must be the color in the area of the sensor behind the rearview mirror so that you can't see the sensor. I wouldn't want to do without the automatic system, it works very reliably.

Radar positioned on the front of the car detects an object, and a camera located in the grille or behind the windshield identifies the object as a car or pedestrian, for example. A special replacement windshield must be installed and calibrated for features like HUD, ADAS, and rain-sensing wipers to work properly. Check this for more information about car sunshades:
