2002 Mercedes Benz SL500

Interior Question

Are all the surfaces inside R129's that aren't metal or hard plastic, leather. I need to do a Leatherique treatment and don't want to waste the stuff on vinyl.

From what I've heard, the only leather is what your butt and back touch, i.e. seat cushions. The rest is vinyl.

Wow, if that's true, then MB should get an award for the best "fake" leather ever.

One way to tell is to look at the backside of the material if you can access it. The backside of leather looks like suede or untreated leather. The backside of vinyl looks like woven cloth.

I would have to tear up the interior to do that. I have a shop manual with dealer parts breakdowns on order. I have one for BMW and they specify the materials of interior covering.
I'll check for sure after I get it. Meanwhile, I'll limit my Leatherique to the seats.
