Roof testing methods

Hi all, I have a roof problem that is now very frustrating. car is a 1992 300sl 12v

the roof originally wouldn't work at all, Anti roll bar was down, now is up and locked.

I have charged the battery and eventually put a new one on the car........

I have a blink tester and an MB 129 manual, the codes were showing 3, 8 and 9.

I have cleared these where the tester only flashes once, and still nothing, switch light comes on in either direction, and the roll bar switch only stays on when first turning the ignition on for approx 7-10secs and doesn't respond when pressed in either direction ......

Can anyone suggest anything further for me to try ? Is there a method for testing the control unit ?

Look forward to hearing from you

Jon

Not sure where you are at in the world, Benz skills or mechanic skills, equipment and frustration, so I will start basic!
So check the fuses in the trunk. ( near the hinge on the passenger side {in Kansas} of the trunk )
Make sure the hydraulic tank attached to the pump ( under the spare tire in the carpet covered compartment ) has fluid.
Have the parking brake on, transmission in PARK and windows down. ( roll bar and windows will go down before the soft top unlatches and starts movement ) but your car may not be in synch???
Klaus from Tophydraulics is the guru for me. he may join the forum soon.
Good luck
