battery seperation load module location

Does anyone know where the battery load module is located on an 2004 sl500?? Can seem to find any information on this.

Thanks in advance

TJ

Update to this thread;

So today I purchased my first MB, 2004 sl500. 60 years old, and never thought I would ever afford one. Dream come true!
So starts the process of DIY. Lol
My issue today, is with the entertainment system, radio powers on but no audio from any source.
Today, I replace the rear battery with a new one, old one was junk. No consumer electronics at all, before I installed the new battery. (top now retracts, tilt steering wheel now works, tap to start, etc.)
So, I wonder that I must have another issue for the audio, I’m assuming the rear battery provides power to the audio amp, but what is it that has gone bad? I did some research on this, but don’t want to start swapping out parts for the fun of it.
Anyone out there, might have some insight on this?
Thanks again,
TJ
P.S this board has some pretty bright people, and I like that and hope I can share the same vibe.

If you are referring to the vehicle power supply control module(N82\1) and battery cutoff relay, they are located behind the right side trunk paneling.

Hey, are you the same 60 year old dude that posted on a Russian forum about divorcing his fifth wife to purchase an SL500---if so my hat goes off to you for making a wise choice.

To you problem---you won't like my answer, but you need to find someone with DAS Xentry diagnostic tool to quickly find he fault---then you can purchase and install he part---the alternative would be to re mary someone with money and get a better car!!

Hey Plutoe,

What planet are you from? I like your style. Not quite on my fifth wife, but maybe with my new SL that may change quickly.

Anyway, thanks for the real answer. I agree..

With that being said, being a newbie in the MB world, and not not so much in the "DIY" world, I would like to pick your sick brain if you may, on what might be a good DAS Xentry diagnostic tool for my 2004 SL500?
I see a bunch of listings for such on ebay, some kits with software already loaded on dell laptop etc, but maybe you know just the right release/software/seller for my personal use on this electrical rat?

More Tesing

So today I hooked up DAS and ran diagnostic tests.

It seems something is wrong with the control unit, but which unit is the test calling out? N82/1?

You don't know what you are doing---your screen shot is based upon the command module and they are all old stored faults---what are you talking about N82\1

Do a quick test and simply double click on the fault message for more information!!

Your correct, but I'm learning as much as my logical brain will suck in without my head exploding.
Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll be digging back into this and post back.

I still don't know what I'm doing, but I did manage to clear all the old codes and ran a new das quick test. problem is, it's still not clear what my issue is. Seems I have a few, but only a few stand out as to no audio. tell me if I'm wrong, but it now seems to be a CAN issue or Comand issue? The thing that bothers me is that, I am having substantial battery drain on system. If i'm running DAS with the key off, it reports 11.6 volts, if while running, it's up around 13.6 volts. rear battery was just replaced and engine battery was tested as good. I've posted a few screen shots of test results. Can't wait to here your feedback, good or bad, i'm ready for it...

Super late to the party but here is my 2 cents

If you havent already resolved this issue which after almost 6 years I hope isnt the case lol, here is what I have to offer. The Audio system as well as SOS and onboard phone if applicable on the R230 are all linked using a closed loop fiber-optic system. You will have to buy some fiber optic couplers which are cheap. You will have to remove many of the interior panels to expose these fiber optic cables and the diagnostic procedure is a process of elimination that works by using the one or multiple fiber optic couplers to bypass each unit in the loop and cycling the ignition off and on. When the audio comes back on you will know which item in the fiber optic in the system was the culprit because it will be coupled causing a successful communication to the rest of the system. Many times its either the cd changer or the SOS emergency support module that go faulty on these.
