Navigation unit available for SL500?
Does anyone have pics of a navigation GPS placed in an older SL500? I recently purchased a 2001 Sl500 and would love to install one.

It would be interesting to see your complete list of mods on your 1990 300SL.
I noticed:
- the front 1/4 panel has 1996 +/- vebts
- the tail lightds are 1996 +
- the steeering wheel is 1996 +
- the radio is newer
All yo need is rounded side mirroes and silver rings on the instument pannel.

model 00 taillights
xenon headlights with headlight washers and auto levelling control
clear blinkers
side blinkers (added those)
17 inch rims (various models)
trunklid with brakelight (not standard in europe)
newstyle steering wheel
APS 30 headunit (mercedes navigation)
cruise control (not standard in europe)
The parts I have lying around that need to be installed whenever I have the time (I have most parts lying around for more the a year already):
model 96 grill
model 00 sidemirrors - powerfolding and auto dimming left and right
auto dimming rearview mirror
power adjusteable steering wheel column
black birds eye maple wood (incl a steering wheel like I have now)
updated insterument cluster
updated climate controls
CD changer (fiber optic)
Bose speakers incl. Bass box and D2B amplifier
an almost new updated twotoned interior with contrast colored stitching - ortopedic adjusteable seats - leather dash and memory seats (not standard in europe)...this interior was assembled as prototype interior to see wether it would be something to take into production...
The car is not supposed to be replaced within the next 10 years...I only drive it with the topdown as I don't like driving it with the top on...I want to have the car repainted in 777 silver arrow silver before the interior goes in (which is charcoal with silver)...

An interesting display of how interchangeable the SL parts are.
Can the colour coded door latches be installed?
That is one of the more pre 1996 styling ques that you have not yet mentioned you intend to revise.
