Ac

I have a 2001 SL500. When I start the car, the ac would run for about five mins. Then it would cut off, then run again for another five mins. Then it would cut off again. Cold air still blows through when it runs. Do you guys know why this would happen and how do I fix this problem?

where what when

Where in the world are you?
What have you done with the vehicle?
When you say it operates that does not include holding the car cab temperature? the fan speed changes? or the system does nothing, fan cool lights on panel?
Lots of help but some of us need more information.

I live in Houston, Texas. I just bought the car about a month ago. Everything was working fine when I bought it. Can you please rephrase your questions that you are asking me? It's confusing what you're trying to ask me. My ac has been having problems about a week ago. I don't' know what to do with it. When it blows air the fan works fine. The fan's speed doesn't change, it works fine. It would cut on and off as I am driving.

Had a similar issue with my 1997 SL600, which was the first time it occurred. Took the car in to my usual shop and they replaced a simple part (somekind of regulator, I believe) and got fixed with relative ease. Sorry but I am not mechanically versed.

Anyway, the problem should be straightforward to resolve.

It's ambiguous to me what you mean by the A/C cutting-off. If you mean no air flows from the vents, then you likely need a blower regulator. If air flows but it is not cold, the compressor may be cutting-off, or hot coolant may be flowing into the heater.

Clarify the ambiguity for further detail.
