SL/R129: Which Windscreen fits 99 SL

Which Windscreen fits 99 SL
I have a 99 500SL minus a wind screen and recently someone offered to sell me one. He is not sure what year it fits so I tried it. The lower guides are REAL tight on the vinyl. Is there a particular year that MB changed the dimensions of the screen or do they just fit tight?

The windscreen that came with my 1999 SL fits reallt tight also. If it is not alligned just right when inserting it ... it doesn't seen to fit at all.
I doubt if the roll bar dimensions or the wind screen size changed at all in the 12 years of the R129 series production.
Also, the place where the wind screen is stored in the trunk is very inconspicuous. Are you positive your car does not have one stored away there?
What happened to the original screen?
My screen is a bit dusty and seems to have been stained by rain.
I have been wondering how to clean it. Sponge washing it with a solution of Ivory Snow and water? Running water under some pressure rom a hose through it? Sinking it into a tub of a soapy water solution?
Maybe I should post on the deailing forum. I do not want to damage the mesh.
