Can anybody give me any idea why when I shut either door on my 92 sl, top down and window about half way up, the window glass sounds like its hitting against bare metal down inside the door?

Second thing, just yesterday when locking the car using my driver's door key lock I heard a slight snap and now the key turns freely and nothing activates at all. Door wont lock, nothing.

Any ideas or fears?

See the other thread about window noises. Sounds like something has come loose in the door and needs to be checked by a dealer. Don't let it continue like this, you would not believe the price of a replacement window winder mechanism.

As for the key, the door lock cylinder engages with the door look in the door and it sould again like something has broken or gone out of alignment.
