Coolant leak 300SL M104 hose intake cyl #4/#5
Dear MBWorld members,
Hereby I would like to ask your advice or experience regarding the well-known coolant leak from the hose underneath the intake manifold (between cylinder #4 & #5) of a R129 300SL-24V (M104.980) engine. For clarification I have included a picture shows the hose clearly (not my car). As you probably all know, the hose is almost impossible to access from above or below without removing the intake manifold, or from below by removing several items (a.o. starter, cc actuator etc.)
However, I have read once that some specialist managed to do the job without removing the intake with some handy tricks and tools. Therefore I am wondering if any of you here have had the same problem and managed or have seen someone getting this hose replaced the “easy” way ? If so, do you know how, what to remove to gain minimal access (e.g. throttle linkage etc. ?) Reason why I am interested in this method, as many connectors, cables, hoses are so brittle it is impossible to do it without breaking other parts.
Any help, suggestions or advice is very welcome.
Thank you in advance !

where do you notice coolant and how hard is it to the see the hose? I've a 90' 300SL with the standard engine, I get a small drip spot of coolant that collects on the drip pan and the drip out the back side of it... size of a quarter .... I can't seem to find any source for it... by the way I couldn't see your attached pictures...
