Hello,

My 97 sl500 40th has been diagnosed with a bad left side cat.
Was throwing a CE light,running sluggish,coding as misfire on 3 cylinders, rattling.My interdependent Benz repiar guy-Stuggart in S.Jersey says the part is not available any longer.
I didn't want to pay for a factory cat anyway. $500+
Any suggestions/ recommendations on aftermarket cats and suppliers?

Yes - very pricey. I also had a rattling cat under my drivers seat (no CEL at the time and was running fine) and had a friend cut it out and weld in a universal cat from Advanced Auto. Can't recall if it was a Walker or Magnaflow. Perfect since and no CEL.
