1998 SL600 - Which tires to use?
So I just purchased a 98 SL600, and it's in dire need of new tires. However, I can't seem to find the right tires to put on it. The one's on the car are 225/55/zr16 Continentals. I keep getting different advice from different shops. One says stick with Continentals, others say BFG, Yokohama, etc... Then I've been told I need tires with a 95 W load rating? It's all a bit confusing since each shop contradicts the other...
Just wanted to see what you guys have on your cars, what works and what doesn't.
I appreciate the help.
Thanks!

I have been in conflict with the tire thing, too!
I have three tire set ups! I enjoy the original 225/55 16 for ride comfort and originality!
I drive on 17's with the lower profile and wider tread
I have a set of very low profile and wider tread that are still mounted on 17's but caused front wheel well problems!
as for the rubber, I don't drive 55 but rarely over 100 so the W or Z is a waste of my money so I buy for road noise issues.
My tire dealer knows I don't wear them out but age them out so soft rubber for traction, often Pilot all season win out.
